Window screens can keep intruders out and help you feel comfortable indoors. They can help keep fresh air in, but keep bugs out. You’ll need to replace them once in awhile because they are rather fragile.

If you want to replace your own window screens then check out this list of materials that you’ll need: screening or screening patches, household cement, razor knife, scissors, screen rolling tool, square, brads, stapler, 1×2 and 1×4 stock to stretch your screening, and wood putty.

What is the main feature of a sunroom enclosure? The windows, of course. Sunroom windows allow us to bring the outside world into our homes, and like anything else, there are many options.

No matter what type of sun room windows you choose, you need to think about the window treatments. Posted by admin under Home Improvement

It happens sometimes that you cannot open the door while the opportunity is knocking, mysteriously it gets jammed. People try their best to welcome the opportunity but after a lot of struggle they realize that it is impossible to open the window. God knows what’s wrong?

In this article you can learn everything about why and how windows and doors get stuck and how you can fix them so that when the opportunity comes next time you are not stuck.

Stuck Windows

Installing a window in a freshly framed opening is one of the more simple tasks in a construction project.

Most new construction windows have what is called a nailing fin. These are found on vinyl or aluminum clad windows. This nailing fin is either vinyl or metal and has nail holes every 4 to 6 inches and about 1 and 1/2 inches wide. Nailing fins take the place of brick moulding which can still be found on primed wooden windows.

Hanging a door these days is easier than its ever been. In the days before prehung doors, it took more tools and knowledge to hang a door than it does now.

Imagine getting a door slab, an unassembled door jamb, hinges and door hardware and having to do all the mortising, drilling, rabbeting on site.

No longer do you need an array of tools such as a drill, a mortising jig for hinges, strikes, and bolt plate. No jig for drilling the backset for the doorknob and bolt.

Nowadays all you need is a hammer and hard trim nails or a finish nail gun and some shims.

Conservatories have become a functional and desirable addition to many homes, but what factors do you need to account for when planning your dream conservatory.

One of the most important factors without a doubt, are site conditions. Are you realistically able to place a conservatory on your plot. You need to pay close attention to issues such as drainage, plot size, and the possibility of having to have extensive building work carried out just to make the site suitable to situate your conservatory.
