Landscape Lighting Design

Posted by admin under Home Improvement

To use landscape lighting design, you will want to consider the various needs for having lights in your yard or garden or courtyard or other landscape space. Do you plan to do lots of night time entertaining, cook outs, dancing on the patio, or do you not plan to use the landscape at night except for sports like lawn darts or horse shoes? Depending upon what you plan to do, you will need different kinds of landscape light.

You may want to only have a landscape lighting design for security reasons, and you might want motion detecting spotlights, to light up the area in case someone comes into your landscape after dark. You can have lights on timers, or you can have manually operated after dark security lighting, and you can have lighting that also responds to darkness, so that even during the day, if it got dark because of a storm or solar eclipse, your lights would respond and come on, keeping a constant level of illumination going all the time for your safety or security.

When you do any kind of landscape lighting design, you have to really understand a bit about electricity, or at least what kind you need and if you have the proper outlets for it, that can withstand outside weather. Most systems are wired up outside the house, so they need to be weather proofed to prevent shorting or other kinds of problems and accidents. You can wire with 220 or 120 current, and this will depend on your particular system, and where you place it, how much current you need, and if you want to put other things on the same electrical loop or system network, such as an electric hot tub motor or an electric powered weed eater or other lawn maintanence tool.

When you are preparing and planning your landscape lighting design, take help from both landscape people and electricians, to work together to provide exactly the configuration and type of system you like and need, while ensuring that it is both safe and well hidden from view, because nothing will destroy the look of a well designed garden than exposed conduit or ugly electrical posts and wires.
